About

The National Skill Development Mission was Introduced on 15th July 2015 the main objective is to provide an overall institutional framework to rapidly implement and scale up the skill development efforts in the whole of India. The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), has taken up multiple steps to join with industries for partnership under the larger Skill India Mission. NSDC has a single-window facilitation system that offers a unique platform for the industries to partner on various such initiatives. NSDC works with a diverse set of stakeholders such as Corporate, Foundations, Government and Community-based Organizations in structuring high impact collaborative skill development projects.

NSDC Funded Affiliation

  • Sustainable and quality skills training institutions with pacing up creation across the country.
  • Supporting and coordinating private sector initiatives for skill development with proper Public-Private Partnership ( PPP ) models, striving for proper operational and financial involvement from the private sector
  • Where market mechanisms are negligible or weak play the role of a “market-maker” by bringing financing in sectors
  • Prioritize initiatives that can have a multiplier or speeding up effect on capacity and quality of skilling in India
  • The Funding Guidelines provide for a proper approach for ‘for-profit’ entity and ‘not-for-profit’ organization
  • Funding support under PMKK

Capital Expenditure

  • NSDC will provide beneficial loan funding per centre, up to 75% of the project investment.
  • Training infrastructure covers the acquisition of plant, machinery & equipment
  • Training help and other associated items provided
  • Civil work covering setting up prefabricated structures and retrofit existing structures

Operations Support

  • The sustainability of the centres will be ensured against certain training numbers under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna ( PMKVY ) or its successor schemes (any other scheme under MSDE or NSDC). Each PMKK will be assured a training mandate for three years, under the PMKVY scheme, as per common norms, subject to capacity and utilization of the centre.
  • Collect funds directly to the NSDC to meet and fulfil CSR commitments under the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility) Rules, 2013.
  • Sponsor candidates for skilling programs in operational regions of company’s choice and in priority areas/sectors (programs focused on livelihoods, persons with disabilities, minorities, special areas, etc.).
  • Operationalize Project with an agreement between Company and NSDC.
  • Offer existing facilities and machinery for on-the-job training where available.
  • Applying the project through NSDC Training Partners with project management with the help of NSDC at a nominal cost.
  • Combine all skill development programs to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) which leads to certification from Sector Skill Councils.

Setting Up COE/Institute

  • Setting up and upgrading a skill for development facility to be a Centre of Excellence focused in sector/areas of strategic importance.
  • Through a relevant Sector Skill Council on standards aligned to the NSQF or The centre may be operated directly by the Corporate
  • An agreement must be signed between the Corporate, NSDC and SSC to operationalize such projects.
  • Focusing on Training of Trainer (ToT), Training of Assessor (ToA) programs, specialized programs focused on high skilled trades, etc.
  • Establishing collaboration with foreign partners to develop transnational standards through G2G/B2B partnerships with the support of NSDC.
  • Co-branding centre/institute with Skill India.
