Chennai Police rescues minor girl sold for Rs 10,000 during cannabis raid, peddlers arrested

Chennai Police rescued a minor girl, who was sold for Rs 10,000, during a drug raid. They arrested two peddlers and recovered 1.75 kg of cannabis during a vehicle check.

Chennai Police conducted a raid to nab drug peddlers and rescued a minor girl from the house. The girl was reportedly sold to the peddlers for Rs 10,000.

Based on a tip, police rounded up drug peddlers in a house and arrested two accused named Viswanathan and Nagaraj for selling banned narcotics.

The girl rescued from the house revealed that she had left her home to earn money to take care of her mentally challenged mother.

She was working at home in Madipakkam when he was forcefully sent to Viswanathan’s home. He raped her multiple times, saying he had brought her for Rs 10,000.

The minor was also assaulted by Viswanathan’s friend Bharathi on several occasions.

The police arrested Bharathi, Hari Prasad, Yuvaraj, Manikandan and Keerthirajan as well, in relation to the cannabis peddling.

They also recovered 1.75 kg of cannabis during a vehicle check along with a knife, a country bomb and a gun.
