Sanju, an accused wanted in connection with the gangrape and murder of a woman in January 2019, was arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Tuesday, August 16. Officials had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his arrest.

The dead body of a 17-year-old unidentified girl was found in the fields near Bulandsher in UP in January 2019. Blood-stained bricks were also found lying near the dead body.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused had gang-raped the victim with his associates and murdered her. Four accused were arrested and Sanju has been absconding since then. A reward of Rs 25,000 was declared for information leading to his arrest by the UP Police.
Incessant efforts by the Crime Branch team yielded results when they received a tip-off about the accused. On the basis of information collected by the team, several calls were analysed and the team zeroed in on the location of the accused.
They discovered that he was currently residing in Gurugram. On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, the team nabbed Sanju from Phase-III, Gurugram.
