A Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) member was hacked to death in broad daylight near the Villupuram-Puducherry border on Wednesday, August 10.
At around 6 am on Wednesday, a DMK general council member, identified as Jayakumar, was on his way to Chidambaram for some personal work. Jayakumar, who hails from Kottakarai in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district, was stopped by a group of unknown men on a remote road.

Jayakumar was mercilessly attacked by unknown assailants who were armed with machetes and knives.

After the attack, the unknown men fled the scene. Locals who were there at the scene of the crime rushed Jayakumar to the nearest hospital.

Unfortunately, Jayakumar succumbed to his injuries. Auroville police, who were informed about the incident, rushed to the spot and began an investigation.
