NEW DELHI: Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi will take oath as Rajya Sabha member on Thursday morning, sources said. He is scheduled take oath at 11am as soon as the House resumes.
Meanwhile, in an administrative error on Wednesday, the Rajya Sabha website showed that former CJI had signed the attendance. But it was corrected immediately. “It was an error and has been corrected and now the website with details of attendance shows who were present on Wednesday,” said a source.
Gogoi’s nomination to the Upper House by President Ram Nath Kovind has triggered a major controversy even attracting criticism from some of his former colleagues. Gogoi had retired four months ago from the top court. The CJI has said he will speak to media after he takes the oath.
