The Congress in Rajasthan on Friday commenced its ‘Jan Ghoshna Patra’ campaign, under which a tollfree number has been launched with the objective of getting suggestions from the public for its election manifesto.
Senior Congress leader and president of the manifesto committee Harish Choudhary said that this initiative has been taken up to increase the public participation in the preparation of the manifesto.
“People can now give a call to the tollfree number 9911448200 and communicate to us their suggestions about several issues that they feel should be covered in the Congress election manifesto. They can also send their suggestions as SMS, WhatsApp messages or videos to the number,” said Choudhary.
However, unruly scenes were witnessed outside the party’s headquarters when supporters of several Congress leaders from Niwai Assembly constituency in Tonk district protested against the candidature of Prashant Bairwa and clashed with his supporters.
“Supporters of three Congress leaders from Tonk had an altercation with the followers of Bairwa after they felt that the party will give Bairwa a ticket to fight the Assembly elections. Bairwa had fought the elections from Niwai on a Congress ticket in 2013 but had lost,” said Laxman Gata, Tonk district Congress president. Congress leaders stated the first list of candidates is likely to be announced after Diwali. “The first list of our candidates is likely to be announced after Diwali and the final decision will be taken with the approval of Congress president Rahul Gandhi,” said state Congress president Sachin Pilot.
The pilot launched the ‘Jan Ghoshna Patra’ campaign by dialing the tollfree number and giving the suggestion that issues pertaining to make jobs for youths and resolving farmers’ grievances should be included in the manifesto. The party also launched another campaign titled ‘Rajasthan Ka Report Card’ wherein in each BJP represented Assembly constituency, it will bring out the ‘actual’ performance of the BJP MLAs.
