Actor-turned-politician Moon Moon Sen, the Trinamool Congress candidate against BJP’s Babul Supriyo, was unaware of clashes in her Asanol constituency as “she woke up late” on the day votes were being polled to decide her fate.

“They gave me my bed tea very late so I woke up very late. What can I say? I really don’t know,” Moon Moon Sen,65, stated.

Clashes erupted in West Bengal’s Asansol constituency with reports of the sitting MP Babul Supriyo’s car being vandalized on Monday, the fourth phase of polling for 72 seats across 9 states.

Babul Supriyo accused the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal of playing wrong tricks. “They want to confine me at a single place. I have to move to other places. Even those residing in buildings in front of the polling station could not cast their votes,” Supriyo said.

When asked Asked about Babul Supriyo’s allegations, Moon Moon Sen stated: “Don’t say his name, please. I won’t talk then,” NDTV reported

A BJP delegation will meet the Election Commission later on Monday over the poll violence in Bengal.

In 2014, Babul Supriyo had defeated Dola Sen (Trinamool Congress) by 70,480 votes. Moon Moon Sen won the Bankura Lok Sabha seat in 2014.

Violence was reported from several places in West Bengal during the first three phases. One person died in political clashes during the third phase while the car of CPI(M) candidate Md Salim was attacked in Islampur during the second round.
