Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) was formed on 29th March 1954 under the intentions of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. He was also the first president of the institute. He placed more importance on decolonization and made it people oriented. IIPA was responsible for enhancing the knowledge of the frontiers in governance and public policy using education and applied research to train the administrators to serve better. The institute believes in enhancing the managerial and leadership qualities and integrating service orientation among the administrators. Their faculties undertake research work to advice on policy changes for better articulation of public services. IIPA brings a transition among the public servants and makes them capable enough to change with time and face the situations. It brings about an overall development in them in regards to skills, knowledge, management and research development. Research, training, information exchange, advisory services, information dissemination etc. are some of the activities of IIPA.
