Kamal Nath instructs complete shut down in MP amid corona threat

BHOPAL: Amid coronavirus threat and increasing positive cases in Madhya Pradesh, the acting chief minister Kamal Nath, on Sunday directed the top officials to maintain complete shutdown by closing all business establishments in the state. So far, the government has locked down seven districts including the state capital Bhopal after confirmation of positive cases during last two days.
“After discussions with chief secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP), the acting chief minister has asked to maintain adequate vigilance in the state in view of the outbreak of coronavirus. He also directed a complete shutdown by closing all business establishments in the state as per the requirement,” said Nath’s media coordinator, Narendra Saluja, in a statement here.
Nath who resigned on March 20 amid the political crisis in the state, also called upon the public to voluntarily close their establishments and stay in their homes, not to organise social gatherings and undertake trips to prevent the corona virus epidemic from spreading in the state.

“People should avoid crowd and immediately inform the authorities about any suspect or infected person. I reiterate that due to preventive measures to control coronavirus, like market shut down, Janata Curfew, closing of commercial areas and offices, small shopkeepers, traders and daily workers are facing problems to earn their livelihood,” said Nath.
He further said, “I am concerned about them. Being an acting CM, I cannot take policy decisions but, I urge that the loss should be compensated immediately after taking over the charge. The upcoming government should announce a relief package for them.”
Nath said that he appealed to the public to give the same support they have given to the Janata Curfew, even after 9 pm and maintain vigil. “We need to maintain strict caution and if necessary do not come out of the house even after 9pm. Those who are moving around unnecessarily should be advised and convinced to stay at home. We can control corona only through strict vigil,” tweeted Nath after the Janata Curfew.
