The Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 began today at around 7 am between high security and preparations. The polls arrived just after the Lok Sabha elections, which were held earlier this year and won by the BJP government. In Maharashtra, the Assembly elections are being held as the BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis’ government will come to an end on November 9 after a tenure of 5 years. The results will be announced on October 24, and the BJP, along with the Shiv Sena, aims for a majority swing this time as well. There are 288 seats in Maharashtra and almost 8.9 crore voters in the state.
This year, 3,239 candidates are contesting the assembly elections.
From Bollywood, filmmaker Kiran Rao, actress Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi carped off their day by casting their vote in the morning. Kiran came solo sans husband Aamir Khan. The filmmaker looked sporty in ripped jeans and a basic neon top along with a backpack. Lara Dutta and husband Mahesh Bhupathi showed off their inked fingers as they posed for the paparazzi outside the polling booth.
Before noon, actor Aamir Khan arrived at the Bandra polling booth. Sporting his glorious beard, the actor put his inked finger on display. Actress Dia Mirza was also present there in a pretty white and pink salwar suit. As for Riteish Deshmukh, the actor reached his hometown Latur along with wife Genelia. He took to Instagram to share a selfie after casting his vote. Apart from them, Madhuri Dixit, Prem Chopra, and others were also seen exercising their right to vote.
Various celebrities are expected to arrive throughout the day.
