A married woman was murdered by her lover in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh on Saturday night. The victim, Mamta Devi, wife of Ranjan Kasera, was in love with accused Armaan Khan.
Mamta Devi, who was murdered with a sickle, lived on rent in Bhadwatand, in the Barkakana OP area of Ramgarh district.
As per Mamta’s sister, Jaya Devi, the deceased was married to a person identified as Ranjan Kasera.
But for the past year, Hazaribagh resident Armaan Khan, alias Rocky Baba, was in constant contact over the phone with Mamta.
This month, all family members were away in Delhi when Armaan visited Mamta at her rented house, said Jaya Devi.
Jaya Devi went to Ramgarh town with her husband on January 14, and when she returned, she discovered her sister dead in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead.
Ramgarh SP Piyush Pandey told India Today that prima facie it appeared that both were in a relationship with consent, and on January 14, Armaan killed Mamta in a fit of rage following a verbal spat.
The exact trigger for the murder is not known yet.
The police are on the lookout for Armaan, and further investigation is underway.
