Media also in frontline of Covid-19 battle: PM

NEW DELHI: Persons working in the media, government, hospitals and people’s representatives were the frontline of the fight against Covid-19 and form part of essential services at a time when the country is facing the challenge of a global pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday. “Those who are in government service, those who are working with hospitals, those who are people’s representatives, mediapersons…it is necessary for them to be active but other members of the society should isolate themselves,” said Modi.
The Prime Minister said there are many brave people who are in the forefront of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic like medical staff, police, government servants, airline staff, mediapersons, bus, train and auto operators and those involved in providing home delivery services.
“Without worrying about their safety, these people are engaged in serving others. If you look at the situation today these services are not insignificant. They also face the danger of being infected. Despite this they are serving others, they are trying to serve others. They are standing between corona and the countrymen as protectors of the nation. The country is obliged to every person like these,” he said. The PM said that things are not normal and these people are running the risk of infection but still doing their duty, Modi said.
