NEW DELHI: Commuting in a cab will change from today. A major cab aggregator has issued a set of new conditions to avail its service such as allowing only two passengers in a cab, no AC during the ride and requirement for customers to load and unload their own luggage.
Taxi aggregator Ola released these new norms for its cabs within hours after many of the states came out with guidelines relax partial resumption of public transport and operation of cabs and other modes of intermediary transport such as three-wheelers. It claimed to have resumed services across 160 plus cities.
The taxi aggregator said it won’t operate any cab in containment zones and it’s mandatory for driver-partners to take selfie to authenticate that they are wearing mask before starting every ride and the selfie must be uploaded through the company’s app. The cabs will also be equipped with masks, sanitizers and disinfectants.
The driver-partners are required to clean all common surfaces like the handle, inner handle and seat with sanitizer before every ride. It said drivers and customers will have the option of cancelling a ride if the other is not wearing a mask.
Wearing mask will also be compulsory for passengers and they need to sanitize before and after every ride. The taxi aggregator said AC will be switched off to avoid re-circulation of air and windows will be kept open during all rides. Only two passengers will be allowed in a cab and they would be urged to sit by the windows. The passengers will be required to load and unload luggage to help maintain social distancing and cashless payments will be preferred.
