NEW DELHI: Setting an example of social distancing in the fight against coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet colleagues were seen following the norm during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The ministers were seen seated maintaining a distance from each other during the meeting which took place at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Minister’s residence.
The picture of the meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, was shared by Union home minister Amit Shah on his social media accounts with a caption, “We are following social distancing. Are you?”
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country effective from midnight to deal with the spread of coronavirus, saying that “social distancing” is the only option to deal with the disease, which spreads rapidly.
Earlier, Modi, while offering greetings on the occasions of Navratri, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba, once again highlighted how to fight against coronavirus. The Prime Minister said, “We are marking these festivals at a time when our nation is battling the Covid-19 menace. The celebrations will not be like they are usually but they will strengthen our resolve to overcome our circumstances.”
He said, “May we keep working to fight Covid-19. May these auspicious occasions bring good health, happiness and prosperity in our lives.”
