LUCKNOW: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi called upon party workers and office-bearers to stand by people in need and in trying times caused by coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter to the party workers on Tuesday, Priyanka Gandhi said that the country was passing through one of the toughest phases and it is the duty of every congressman to work to empower people in need without any prejudice.
“It is time to be aware and help each other,” she told party workers while directing them to stay safe and healthy.
Priyanka gave them five directions including, “connect with people in your ward or block and help in identifying suspected cases. In case you come across anyone, facilitate their screening and testing.”
She also told them to inform health authorities about any suspected case besides helping the administration in implementing the lockdown.
The third instruction was to reach out to helpless villagers and create awareness about coronavirus and its prevention through telephonic messages or calls.
The fourth instruction was to take special care of the elderly, destitute and those unwell. The final instruction was to counter fake news and misinformation.
Earlier, Congress president Sonia Gandhi also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi extending all possible help from the party in coronavirus containment.
