NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Wednesday asked the Centre to respond to a fresh plea challenging denial of information about the PM Cares fund. In a related but separate development, a bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and justice Prateek Jalan declined to entertain a PIL seeking transparency in the PM Cares fund under the RTI Act.
The petition was then dismissed as withdrawn after the bench noted that the petitioner had not filed an RTI plea but straight away approached court.
A bench of justice Navin Chawla asked the Centre to reply to a petition challenging a decision of the PMO to deny information to an applicant seeking documents related to the PM Cares fund under the RTI Act. After the government raised questions on the maintainability of the plea, Justice Navin Chawla asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to file a response by the next date of hearing.
