SRINAGAR: In a case of fratricide, two CRPF constables shot each other dead after a minor scuffle in the city’s Dalgate area on Tuesday evening.
The fire exchange took place inside CRPF’s water wing at Dalgate, a police officer said, adding that the two constables — Siju and Jala Vijay of the force’s 144 Bn — fired at each other around 4pm after an altercation over some issue at the place of their posting at a hotel at Dal lake.
“On hearing gunshots, their colleagues rushed both men to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Doctors at the facility declared them dead upon arrival,” the officer said.
CRPF spokesperson Neeraj Rathore confirmed the deaths, adding that an investigation has been initiated into the fratricide.
