A woman and a teenager were murdered during brawls over petty issues during wedding functions in two separate events in outer Delhi on Friday night. While the two men implicated in the murder of the woman were caught from Chandigarh, cops are still looking for the killers of the teenager.
Another murder was also published in Rohini, where a property dealer was shot dead in his office.
The first incident was recorded from the C-block in Mangolpuri where the woman, Sunita and her husband Sajjan was attending her nephew’s wedding. Around 3 am, an altercation broke out between Sajjan and two youths — Aakash and Sandeep — over a song being played by the DJ.
Police told that Aakash and Sandeep pulled out pistols and fired at Sajjan. Sunita tried to save her husband and one of the bullets hit her in the head. She was taken to the Jaipur Golden hospital where she was declared dead.
“We formed a team to track down the two men who had fled to Chandigarh the same night. They were tracked down and caught along with the weapon. It was found that both of them were involved in cases of snatching and robberies,” answered Seju Kuruvilla, DCP (outer).
A few hours before this, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to a grave by a group of teenagers at a wedding in Shahbad Dairy around midnight. The teenager, Nishant, and his friend Aman had got into a dispute with a group of teenagers over occupying a seat at a table. Nishant had allegedly pushed one of the accused, and in retaliation, the youth called his friends and stabbed Nishant various times. When Aman tried to intervene, he too was severely injured.
The other guests had chased after the accused but they succeeded to flee. Nishant and Aman were taken to a hospital where Nishant succumbed to injuries. A manhunt is on to nab the accused teens and a case of murder has been registered. Police say that Nishant studied at a government school in the locality.
The third incident was reported on Friday afternoon at Jain Nagar in Begampur. The property dealer, Sanjeev Sharma, was in his office when a masked man entered and shot him point blank before fleeing on a motorcycle. The incident was captured in CCTV footage. A child from the neighborhood of the victim was also present when the shooting took place.
Police suspect a group of extortionists to be involved in the case. DCP (Rohini) S D Mishra said the CCTV footage is being scanned to identify the man.
