UP: Woman sets husband on fire in Mathura after argument over affair

A woman allegedly set her husband on fire in the Mathura division of Agra after an argument broke out between the couple due to an extra-marital affair. The man died at the hospital.

A woman allegedly set her husband on fire using petrol in Mathura district of Agra division in Uttar Pradesh on Monday night. The man died at a hospital in Delhi on Tuesday as he had suffered 80 per cent burns. The incident has been reported from Kosikalan town.
According to sources, the woman, identified as Rekha, had an extra-marital affair and her husband, Chaman Prakash, raised doubts about it. On Monday, an altercation broke out between the couple and, later in the night, when Chaman Prakash was fast asleep, Rekha allegedly poured petrol on him and set him afire.

When the neighbours came to know about this, they extinguished the fire and rushed the man to the hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries in Delhi as he had sustained grievous burn injuries.

“Police received a complaint from the family of deceased Chaman Prakash, a resident of the Meena Nagar colony in Kosi Kalan. A case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Rekha, “local police station in-charge Anuj Kumar told India Today.
