Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL)

This is the official website of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL). Formerly the Namrup Fertilizer Complex, it is the first factory in India to utilize natural gas for nitrogenous fertilizer production. The factory is located in the south-western border of Dibrugarh District in Assam. The establishment of BVFCL came about after the discovery of oil and natural gas reserves in the Naharkatiya region. Upon the recommendation of the Snodgrass Associates of USA to utilize this natural reservoir, the then Ministry of Mines and Fuel appointed a technical committee to study the possible use of natural gas in putting up a fertilizer plant. This was how the Namrup Fertilizer Complex was established, which eventually evolved into the present Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited.
