Cyber Appellate Tribunal CAT is a governmental department that looks after the cyber matters of the country. It falls under the authority of the department of electronics and IT, Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India. It was originally created in 2000 by the IT Act under the sponsorship of CCA, Controller of Certifying Authorities.
Cyber Appellate Tribunal is a regulatory authority and it for sees all the matters regarding cybercrimes and other cyber-related issues. It also holds the power to regulate its own system and place of work. If any sort of cyber discrepancy is noted by CAT, it takes the necessary actions to regulate the activity and later on, criminal procedures are initiated in order to make the defaulter pay for all the trouble.
