Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH)

On the 9th of November, 2014, the Ministry of AYUSH was established by the Government of India in order to provide added healthcare facilities to the people of the country. The Indian Department of Homeopathy and Medicine was renamed to Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, or AYUSH. The basic aim behind this development was to pay more attention to the strengthening of education related to homeopathy, yoga, unani, naturopathy, Ayurveda, and Siddha.
It was proposed to fully upgrade all the medical and homeopathy colleges so that there may be developed an advanced system to facilitate these areas of study. Moreover, there was felt a need for strengthening the existing research work being carried out on the efficient and effective treatments of fatal diseases. Another aim was to promote the production and cultivation of different plants and herbs that may be used for any sort of medical treatments.
