Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR)

Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) is a branch of Ministry of science and technology. It undertakes activities related to technology development, promotion, transfer, and utilization. It encourages the Research and development undertaken by the industries and also assists the small and medium units to create state of art technologies with high potential and capabilities and strengthen the technology to build a user-friendly information and technology network in the country. It also plays an important role in transferring the technologies from the science labs to the industries using National research development corporation (NRDC). DSIR has framed certain programmes for enhancing R& D, development, marketing, acquiring, exporting etc. of indigenous technologies. This programme is divided into two parts Industrial R&D promotion programme and Technology development and innovation programme. These programmes include acquiring knowledge about the latest technology and developments, building research facilities, acquisition of patent, advertising, and marketing of technology and innovation in all industrial sectors.
