Gorakhpur District, Uttar Pradesh

The district of Gorakhpur is situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of the largest and most prominent districts of the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the headquarter of the district. All the public offices are situated in Gorakhpur District. Gorakhpur was founded by the Nawab of Awadh who was a part of the British East India Company. It has a covered area of about 7483.8 square kilometers. The district of Maharajganj surrounds Gorakhpur from the northern side, Sant Kabir Nagar district from the western side, Mau district from the south and Deoria district from the eastern side. According to the census conducted in 2011 by Indian Government, the district of Gorakhpur has a population of 4436275 people. It is approximately equal to the population of the country Croatia, and the American state of Kentucky. The population density is 1336 people living in each square kilometer.
