The government of Bihar has formed an autonomous body called Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS) under the department of rural development for the economic and social development of the rural poor. This project is funded by the World Bank. It is also known as JEEVIKA. The main objective of the projects was to eradicate poverty, build up capacities and organize the poor to improve their self-employment opportunities. It aims to improve the livelihood of the rural by reducing poverty and enabling them to get access to skilled wage employment self-employment opportunities. BRLP plays a very important role in advocating improvement in agribusiness and microfinance divisions. BRPLS works to develop professionals through their four programs namely institution and capacity building, livelihood, microfinance and social development. The project believes in the intrinsic capabilities of the rural poor and would take efforts to convert them into capacities using their knowledge, tools, skills, Information etc.
