Kheri District, Uttar Pradesh

Lakhimpur Kheri is situated on the border of Nepal and is the colossal district in Uttar Pradesh. Lakhimpur is the administrative capital of this district. It comes under Lucknow division and is placed on the second lowest ranking city for sanitation in India. There is an urgent need to improve the amenities and enhance the standard of living for the people in this district. There is only one National park in Uttar Pradesh known as Dudhwa National Park which inhabits many endangered and rare species of leopards, hispid hares, tigers, Bengal floricans and swamp deer. Lakhimpur Kheri district is undertaking various projects for the upliftment of its residents. Some of the projects are Tehsil Divas, Bhu Lekh Khatouni, Scholarship, and pension and ration card itization. There are many cottage industries in Lakhimpur Kheri. The two largest sugar mills of Asia are located in this district. Many crops such as Wheat, barley, pulses, maize, sugarcane, menthol mint etc. are grown here.
