Law Commission of India

Law Commission of India is a law body which is formed by the government of India. It comprises of members who are legal experts who are mandated by the government of India. This commission is formed for a fixed period. It provides guidance and advice to the Ministry of law and justice. The first law commission was formed in 1834 during the British rule. During the pre-independence period, three more commissions were introduced. After Independence, the first law commission was formed in 1955 for a period of three years. Since then 19 more commissions have been formed. The twentieth commission was formed in 2013 with a fixed tenure till 2015. The commission has different research personnel from varied sections for research, evaluations, organizing information, resolving issues etc. They may also form the partnership with educational institutes and professional bodies for organizing seminars and training to enhance the knowledge of the skills of their members.
