Meteorological and Oceanographic Satellite Data Archival Centre (MOSDAC), ISRO


The Meteorological and Oceanographic Satellite Data Archival Centre was set up with the aim of forecasting, predicting cyclone as well as making data on weather and oceans available.
The Meteorological and Oceanographic Satellite Data Archival Centre is a department under India’s center for space application which is responsible for providing meteorological data for organizations who requires the data for their services. The center was set up in March 2006 with the aim of storing every meteorological related data in a single location so that it can be easily retrieved and made use of, in numerical models and research works. The meteorological data the center produces include weather forecasts, cyclone predictions, and data on weather and oceans. The center was established after the Standing Committee on Meteorology in India suggested that it should be a data dissemination and archival center bet set up for Indian individuals and businesses who require data related to oceanography and meteorology.
