National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) refers to the Indian government organ that was created under the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993 in the year 1995. The obligations of this body are to oversee standards, processes, and methods used in the Indian education system. The NCTE has its roots back in 1973 when it only acted as an advisory body to supervise the growth and advancement of “teacher education.” During this period it was just a department within the National Council of Educational Research and Training. Today, NCTE forms a crucial part within the Indian government’s National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education 2009. The organization set up its headquarters in New Delhi but has its representation in different other cities. Four major officials ‘Regional Committees’ of the organization conduct their operations from Jaipur, Bhopal, Bangalore, as well as Bhubaneswar. These regional committees handle the Northern, Southern, Western, and even the Eastern areas.
