Office of the economic adviser is a non-constitutional and independent body which gives the Government of India advice related to their economy. It is attached to the office of Commerce and industry. It works on behalf of the Department of Industrial policy and promotion. It deals with two basic functions which are subdivided further. The first one is policy functions which include the formation of rules regarding the economic sector for the purpose of industrial development.

The other one is a statistical function which includes the measurement of different tools that have an effect on the economic changes in the market.
