Solapur District, Maharashtra

Solapur is an Indian city situated on the south-east side of the state of Maharashtra. The Pune Division is the administrative division that takes care of Solapur. The city is situated between Hyderabad and Mumbai. Many major routes of the road and railway tracks pass through Solapur due to this very reason. The major languages of the city include Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The official language, however, is Marathi.
Solapur stands on the 4th mark of the largest districts in the state of Maharashtra. According to the 2011 census of the Indian Central Government, the city has 951118 people living in the city area while 1284863 people living in the metro area. 83.88% of the total population of Solapur is literate people.
There are many reputed hospitals and educational institutes including universities, colleges, and schools in the city. Some tourists visit Solapur due to a few of its attractions and sites worth seeing.
