West Bengal State Electricity Transmission (WBSETCL) is an independent state-owned company which is liable for providing to load centers in West Bengal from generating sources using a transmission network running at 400KV, 220KV, 132KV, 66KV. It is fully owned by the Government of West Bengal. Under the Electricity Act 2003, WBSETCL is responsible for playing three functional roles as 1) The State Transmission Utility (STU) provider 2) A Transmission Licensee (TL) 3) The State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC). They believe in providing the highest quality power transmission with minimum technical cost using the best system available. The company has earned huge profits and awards since its foundation. In the year 2007 -2008 it has also earned the Best Transmission system availability award with Gold Shield. It has also gained an ISO: 9001:2000 certifications on the basis of an audit to check its Quality management system which was accredited by KVQA, Norway.
