Western Railway in its present structure appeared on fifth November 1951 by the merger of its herald, the recent Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway (BB&CI), with other State Railways viz, Saurashtra, Rajputana, and Jaipur. The BB&CI Railway was itself fused in 1855, beginning with the development of a 29-mile expansive gage track from Ankleshwar to Utran in Gujarat state on the West Coast. In 1864, the railroad was stretched out up to Mumbai. Visitors to the website can find information about the trains, availability, and reservation of seats, departure and arrival timings of the trains etc. Pension portal and national voters service portal are also provided on the website. One of the novel features is the suggestion request invitation for the general public on station cleanliness issue.
