Women and Child Development Department were established in 1994 – 1995 for the advancement of the women and children through various programs and schemes designed for the purpose. They also emphasize on coming up with schemes for disabling and senior citizens. Mamata and Bhimabhoi Samarthya Abhiyan are some of the latest schemes introduced by them. They continuously bring out programs and activities for the progress of women, children, senior citizens and disabled. Women and child development department is divided into thirteen sections and six lawful bodies. They spread awareness and undertake various activities like immunization, preschool education, health checkups, nutrition and health education, infant and young child feeding etc. for the children. They have set up various plans like Kishori Shakti Yojana, Adolescent Anemia control program, Ujjawala etc. for the women. They provide scholarships, certifications, training, medical aid and other assistance to the disabled people.
